Jewellery Care Guide

General Jewellery Care

  •  Metal can scratch and dent when it comes in contact with harder elements. To avoid damaging the jewellery, we advise it to be removed before sleeping and doing physical activities to avoid unintentional damage. This will help protect and maintain the jewellery . Especially with platinum because it is a soft and malleable metal.
  • Direct contact with hairspray, perfumes, makeup and other chemicals may cause jewellery to discolour.
  • All stone set jewellery should not be worn while doing anything to do with water. For example: swimming, showering or washing hands.
  • Store your jewellery with separate protection to avoid scratching.
  • We recommend that you have your jewellery professionally cleaned and inspected once a year at least.
  • Return to J.Que Jewellery for a regular clean and inspection every year. Check on our repair page for the repair policy.

Cleaning

  • Gold Chain:

Use a mild liquid soap and pour into a container with warm water. Soak your gold chain in the soap water for a few minutes and then rub gently with a soft cloth or very soft toothbrush. Once it is clean, rinse the gold chain and pat dry. Another option is to buy an ultrasonic cleaner which emits a high frequency sound wave. This can clean the jewellery

  • Gold Jewellery:

It is recommended to soak in warm soapy water and buff dry with a soft cloth to help maintain shine. You can also use an ultrasonic machine as mentioned before.

  • Sterling Silver:

To maintain the jewellery rub with a Silver Cloth is all that is needed to renew shine.

    • Ring:

It is recommended you remove rings when washing your hands. Particles of soap may become stuck in gaps. Rings with pearls and/or gem stones must be rinsed with cold water with care. Lightly patted dry with a clean soft cloth before storing.

Diamonds attract skin oil and dust. Wipe diamonds on your rings with diamond cloth after wear on a regular basis. This will ensure shine and brilliance.
NOTE: All jewellery should be checked and cleaned professionally yearly.
